Resistance

Against
the wind
feels
angry
helpless
Standing
still
feels
free

Behind the clouds

Dawn finds
Lady Sun
hidden
but hinting
with flags
of subtle color
at her
triumphant
return

Two perspectives

The cold wind
whispers
ominously
under a blank
gray
sky
and my body
rejects
what feels
too abrupt
a shift
But
green
is accelerating
exploding leaves
and rolling across
lawns
like an unstoppable
wave

Crossroads

Dry
cattails
rattle
and creak
and chickadees
pipe
the same
two note song
as in winter
The leaves
have barely emerged
some branches
still dead-bare
but a bullfrog
purrs
out on a sandbar
and the mud smells
like summer
all seasons
meet here

Goal

Can I
be
like you
Lady Sun
and illuminate
the clouds
from within
transforming
darkness
to violet
indigo
and rose?

Playful

Clouds
whisper
like playful
conspirators
before
running off
for a game
of tag
with Lady Sun
and
the raindrops

Mindful

A leaf curled
a bud furled
a raindrop
poised
to fall
one note
of birdsong
a flash
of reflected light
a moment
of peace
held
heard
heeded
