Haze

A smoky pall
hangs
over morning
dregs
of a bad dream
I fear
will return
to haunt
restless nights
ahead
Where
is the wind
to blow away
this malaise
to fill our sails
and propel us
to calmer
seas?

Seeds

The bloom
has fallen
revealing
a trove
of tiny treasures
that I will hoard
until spring

Languishing

Summer sulks
under hazy skies
blooms fading
and blown
The river
is low
and the landscape
thirsty
Long way
from
spring rains
Long time
until
seasons change

Welcome now

Welcome
as sun
after days of clouds
shade
when sun scorches
wind
to clear the air
calm
to still the storm
snow
to cover bare ground
bare ground
to receive
the rain
that falls
on the sleeping bulbs
in spring.

Precious

If tasked
to list
my most precious
what would I write down
what would even
survive
fire flood
and force
would I even
recognize
after the shifting
and the sifting
after turmoil
and time
if I escaped
with the skin
on my back
would that be
most precious?

No perfect moment

Waiting
for the moment
missing
this moment
when
morning birds
share the pale
dawn sky
with winged clouds
and hush
