Holding
Afternoon
like autumn
is fading
rolling
toward the west
and golden dusk
If standing still
and slowing
my breath
to a hush
could stop time
I would
stop right here
at season’s
and day’s
twilight

Fall(en)
Their whisper
and crackle
is the sound
of autumn
and memory
of childhood
of carpets and
mountains
of fallen leaves
waiting
to be revelled in

Dazzled
Much missed
Lady Sun
your shining face
dazzles
eyes
reluctantly accustomed
to a gray, flattened horizon
Today
the sky feels
infinite
and overflowing
with light

Hibernation
If I could
slow down my heart
and still my breaths
to a whisper,
I might join you,
sleepy friend,
in your autumnal nap
The dark at dawn
and the cold wind
calls me to stillness
contemplation
rest

Autumn's Ghosts
Pre-dawn’s
stillness
swells
with the calls
of gathering geese,
the sound wave
tracing the path of
the river,
gathering
into one voice,
banking southward
and away
